Comes without battery pack, needed to purchase so a bit of a delay. Difficult to double click to turn on flash feature with gloves on so 4 stars. I am confident I can be seen for several blocks from behind, so now I only need to watch for the crazies with my rearview GoPro with WiFi to iPhone on handlebars

I ride in a very unfriendly to cyclists part of the country. Cars come incredibly close and honk right next to you in a "get off my road" aggressive way. I have even had people yell "go to a playground" or throw things at me. Since I have been using the DS-500 I have noticed a remarkable change in behavior. Now, cars honk well behind me as if to say "don't worry, I see you" and when making I make a turn they will slow and give me the room to make it without worrying about them. Also, today was the second time that someone in a car followed me and asked me to stop simply because they are cyclists and wanted to know where they could find one of these lights because "that is the best cycling light I have ever seen. I saw you from so far away".

Delivers all that is promised	December 9, 2015

The mounting and performance of the light is all that is promised. A very solidly mounted light that doesn't move around (required a small piece of adhesive tape on the inner surface of the cateye mounting bracket to provide more friction to prevent rotation) of the The light that repels cars, trucks and buses quite well. My neighbor remarked it "I thought the police were here" when he saw the tail light flashing.

Shipping was prompt and the light was modified for horizontal mounting as requested.

It takes a little bit of time to get used to switching the lighting patterns (and reading the manual), but is quite easy to use after "training" by user is complete.

Excellent Light	November 16, 2015

I continue to get people, (roadies) commenting on the fact that this is the brightest light they have ever seen. Note, this is daytime use and I run it on mode 5 or 6, quite a low setting, steady level one with either the pulse or toggle. I have most certainly noticed cars are more aware of my presence. I would buy this light again and it gets my strongest recommendation.

Strong, secure mount.	November 14, 2015

This mount's great. Holds tight without any wiggle or worry of it falling off. I ended up mounting on the left seat stay. I feel totally confident that it'll stay put and that it's not to tight to hurt the carbon.
The mount has stayed in place over some jolting bumps & rough roads.

Difficulty with settings	November 6, 2015

The light is very bright which motorists can definitely see from a long distance. The only challenge I have had is with getting it to the settings I want. I try to get it to the flashing setting and I have to try several times to get what I want. It seems like it worked better when I first purchased it.
The light is very sturdy and easy to attach to the bike - and overall it does the job.

Best tail light EVER	October 23, 2015

I've been a cyclist now in the uk for 25 years. It's only the last 2, 3, years that helmets have really been promoted more than ever to be worn by every one which is a good thing.. But apart from wearing one to help prevent any serious injury the only other cycling accessory to HELP prevent an accident is a good rear light.. To cut a long story very short this is the BRIGHTEST rear light in the WORLD .. So many times I've seen other cyclist with tiny little rear lights which are no brighter than a burning match!! I won't go into details regarding the detailed information about this light.. All I can say is study the information on the design shine website and just order this amazing light.. I can promise you now you won't be disappointed ..

DS-500 Tailight	October 14, 2015

Well I feel much safer with it than with anything i have used before. My friend had one before I did. When I could see his unit flashing clearly from over a mile behind with a clear line of sight, I realized that this was the light for me. I am also able to check the behavior of vehicles behind me with my rear view mirror. They are definitely taking notice for the most part and avoiding me.

I am taking a long indefinite break from ultra-distance road cycling (double centuries). But it would be nice to have a good record of how long the two batteries i have will last in all modes - especially if I am going to be using them night and day for 200 miles at a stretch. I understand that the battery duration is still being tested. Anyway, the longest I will go at a stretch for now is a century so no hurry on that.

...that is what is felt when you read all the great reviews, chat with Stephen and he answers all your questions, receive it as expected (quickly) and then plug it in, mount it on the bike and it works beautifully as expected. NICE! beautifully engineered, compact and BRIGHT! I expected it to be great and it is!, very impressive.
